Zaterdag 11 juli heeft in het kader van Covid-19 een onderzoek plaatsgevonden naar luchtkwaliteit en luchtreiniging tijdens sporten in een fitnessruimte bij de TU/Eindhoven.
Doel van het onderzoek is te kijken hoe sportscholen en overige binnensportruimtes op een verantwoorde manier open kunnen blijven voor sporters, ook wanneer er minder buiten gesport kan worden of bij een tweede of derde golf van dit virus of toekomstige pandemieën. Er is een film gemaakt van deze testdag.
De studie wordt uitgevoerd door de faculteiten Built Environment en Industrial Design van TU/e en PlasmaMade en is mede mogelijk gemaakt door Sportinnovator en de gemeente Eindhoven.
Isala Ziekenhuizen, Go2Sure, NL Actief, NOC*NSF en de multinationale organisaties Ansys en de Avicenna Alliance for Predictive Medicine zijn nauw betrokken bij het onderzoek.

Throughout the Netherlands, gyms were closed for months because of uncertainty about the risk of Covid-19 contamination during sports in an enclosed area. Sportinnovator, a programme for sports innovation and research funded by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, has therefore brought together a number of parties to come up with innovative solutions and more knowledge in this area.
On Saturday July 11th, an investigation took place into air quality and air cleaning during sports in a gym at the TU/e. The aim of the study was to see how gyms and other indoor sports areas can remain open to athletes in a responsible way, even when there is less outdoor activity during the coming winter months, or in the event of a second or third wave of this virus, or during a future pandemic. A film was made of the study on Saturday July 11th.
The study was carried out by researchers of the faculties Built Environment and Industrial Design of TU/e and PlasmaMade and was made possible by Sportinnovator and the municipality of Eindhoven.
